How to build a wedding entertainment package
A package is simply a plan for who performs at each point in your day. Start with the moments you want covered, then ask what each act actually includes before comparing quotes.

Start with your wedding timeline
You do not need entertainment for every hour. Pick the gaps that matter: music as guests arrive, a ceremony song, something during photos and drinks, then the first dance and the evening party. Write down the start and finish time for each part and whether the venue has a sound system in each space.
If the venue has a curfew or a room turnaround, tell every supplier before requesting a quote. A band can need considerably more setup space than a solo musician, while a DJ may need access well before the evening guests arrive.
Three ways to put a package together
Ceremony to first dance
For couples who want live music at the meaningful moments
Line-up: Ceremony musician or acoustic duo → drinks reception set → evening DJ.
Check: Ask whether the musician can move between spaces, and whether the evening DJ supplies their own sound and lighting.
Browse musiciansOne lively evening
For a reception centred on the dancefloor
Line-up: DJ with sound and lighting → optional live sax or percussion → photo booth.
Check: Confirm which acts perform together, when the booth opens, and whether each supplier needs a separate power point.
Browse DJsLive band and late finish
For couples who want a live set and music after it
Line-up: Band for evening sets → DJ or agreed playlist between sets and until close.
Check: Ask if the band provides background music and microphones for speeches, or if you need a separate DJ or sound supplier.
Browse bandsOne supplier or several?
One supplier handling more than one part of the day can simplify the handovers, but it is not automatically cheaper or better. Compare the total hours covered, breaks, travel, equipment and who is responsible for each room. With separate acts you can choose a specialist for the ceremony and another for the dancefloor. Ask both sides to agree on setup and changeover times.
On Veya, entertainers can list their own packages and what is included. If you want several different acts, you can add them to an event bundle and send each a request; they respond and accept separately, and any deposits are handled separately too.
What to ask before you book
- Exactly which performers, hours and breaks does the quote cover?
- Are sound, lighting, microphones, travel and setup included? Are there extra charges for a later finish?
- Can you share must-play and do-not-play songs or a first-dance request?
- Who handles music while the band takes a break or the room changes over?
- What are the payment stages and cancellation terms for each booking?
Treat a listed package price as that entertainer's own offer, not a price for everyone. Your date, venue and requested hours can change the final quote. For more inspiration, see our wedding suppliers and planner.
Build your line-up
Compare real profiles, read each act's inclusions and ask for a tailored quote when your plans need something different.
